This seminar series is, initially, focused on mathematical issues arising from the use and study of neural networks in deep learning.

The organizers are cognizant of two related topics:

• Mathematics required for understanding deep learning.
• Applications of deep learning to mathematical topics, such as numerical solution of partial differential equations.

These latter topics may be touched on initially, and potentially dealt with more fully in a later seminar series.
